dirty thirty

I've turned 30 at the beginning of this week, so far, so good. I have amazing friends, loving boyfriend and a wonderful family. I get to wake up, go to work, and be creative every single day.

Some days I feel like I am only pretending to be working toward something... something to put in a drawer or hang on my wall? Something to piss away at the bar or stare away on the train? Something to think about when I'm already out with friends or when my phone dies or when I found out how you are tomorrow, what you eat today? wait, whaat?!

That was until I turned 30. Long forgetting the ones who broke my heart, stabbed me in the back or pretend to ignore me when I'm in the Thriftway of Fishtown. I don't think I'm bitter, I choose to believe I am better. I am catching up to the ones I always admired more anyway. When they gave me advice I took it. Now I take my own. I still work for the weekends, but they seem to last longer.

Maybe thirty is so dirty because it's when you finally allow yourself to come clean ?

My hero and half my age...if that.
If only i knew then what i know now, the world may have just exploded.

What Zelda always wanted was equal footing and an identity apart from her famous husband. But she was thwarted in that goal by an initial lack of direction. Ironically, she needed Scott to show her the way. Like many women of her era, she began her adult life with little idea about how to apply her numerous abilities. She married Fitzgerald expecting he would lead her to realms she could not enter alone,following the path many women of her class took. Talented , and with similar goals to her own, Scott appeared capable of guiding her, but was focused on his own career and offered little help. Occasionally he tried, but it was an unnatural role at cross purposes with his own intentions. Their unconventional marriage and hedonistic lifestyle did not help matters. Co-creators of their own legend, in which fantasy and fact often blurred, they found it increasingly difficult to perceive or accept reality. Instead, as husband and wife, they alternatively bolstered each other then cruelly wrenched away-love, mistrust, and competitiveness permeating their relationship.
